Refund Policy
Last updated 2026-10-18
This market has been repeatedly burned by tools that quietly went dark or locked in a subscription with no way out. These terms exist specifically to remove that risk.
Free trial
Every new account starts on a 14-day free trial of Publisher, with no card required. When it ends, nothing is charged: your workspace moves to Free and keeps all your work. The trial is one per person.
30-day refund
If you've paid for Publisher and it isn't working out, you can request a full refund within 30 days of your first Publisher payment — no questions asked. This covers your first payment only (monthly or annual), not a standing right on every later renewal charge — you already get a 14-day no-card trial before that first payment to make sure Publisher is right for you. Contact us and we'll process it.
Pausing your subscription
You can pause Publisher for up to 6 months at a time, self-service, from your billing settings. Cancelling doesn't put your data at risk either — see below — but pausing means resuming later is a single toggle, not a fresh sign-up and billing setup.
What happens if you cancel or lapse
Cancelling or letting a subscription lapse never holds your work hostage:
- You keep full read, edit, and source export access to every project, indefinitely.
- Only the paid export targets tied to Publisher (unwatermarked screen PDF, HTML SRD export, errata documents) re-lock. Everything else — the editor, the validator, draft PDF export, full source export — keeps working exactly as it does on the Free tier.
Your work is never locked to a subscription
Whatever happens to your billing, your projects are stored on our servers on every tier, Free included, and full source export to plain Markdown and JSON is always available — including after cancellation, and at no cost. There is nothing to rescue from a lapsed account.
How billing works
Payments are processed by Polar.sh, acting as merchant of record, which handles VAT/GST on our behalf depending on your location. Publisher is billed monthly ($12/mo) or annually ($110/yr).
